Leader of the Year 2020

We are so proud to announce the 2020 Leader of the Year is BETSY HAYS of Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice

As President of the Evergreen Chamber until mid September, Betsy showed exemplary leadership and was a champion for local businesses during one of the most difficult years our businesses have ever faced. She initiated new programs that were instrumental in promoting businesses in the mountain community, and continued to strongly support our area nonprofits. Thank you for all you do Betsy!

Lesley Dahlkemper

2020 was an incredibly difficult year in which we were fortunate to have many local leaders step up to go the extra mile to help our local businesses and residents. One such leader was our County Commissioner, Lesley Dahlkemper. Between running the county, she hosted and attended additional meetings with our area Chambers of Commerce, held public meetings for constituents to ease fears and receive feedback, and she did all of this with grace, poise, and compassion. Before COVID-19, she led another extremely important effort on behalf of our mountain communities in particular: organizing and leading the Jeffco Wildfire Risk Reduction Task Force, and increasing awareness for the high risk of wildfire that we face. Thanks to her efforts, we have recommendations following a year of meetings with community members, area leaders, and fire department Chiefs. Solving the issue will take time and effort, but we are on our way with that huge first step.

Cindy Latham

Cindy moved to Evergreen two years ago and hit the ground running, assuming numerous leadership roles in Fire Safety and Prevention programs at the county level, throughout the foothills and in Evergreen. In early 2020, Cindy actively started and currently serves as the Chair of  Rotary Wildfire Ready (RWR) in partnership with the  Mountain Area Rotary Clubs, Community Leaders, Local Fire Departments and Jefferson County Extension. The mission of Rotary Wildfire is to increase wildfire awareness and preparedness in our communities and to help make residents safer from the threat of wildfire. Accomplishments for the 2020 year include: the launching of the RWR website and Facebook page, development of four digital brochures and preparing for the launching of the Rolling Educational Lab, an eye-catching fire truck that will be seen at many community events to help spread awareness of wildfire preparedness.

Betsy Hays

As the past President of the Evergreen Chamber, Betsy showed exemplary leadership by helping both member and non-member businesses navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. Betsy was a champion for local businesses, initiated new programs to drive local business and was instrumental in promoting business in the mountain community. Betsy has been a leader in many roles making others look good in the community but not eligible for recognition herself. She went above and beyond when the pandemic hit, stimulating business for members and non-members in creative ways and providing encouragement to the community at large by doing so. Betsy is currently the Director of Resource Development at Mt. Evans and they are lucky to have her on their team.
